ERROR OF JUDGMENT.
MAN'S DEATH FROM EXPOSURE

DUNEDIN, this day. At the inquest m regard to tlie death of George Allen, insurance agent, whose body was found on St. ■ Clair beach last Saturday, the evidence disclosed a rather unfortunate aspect as regards the cause of death, which was due to cold and exposure. A witness, an officer m a temperance lodge, saw the deceased apparently under the influence of liquor, on tho path on Friday afternoon. He tried hard to rouse him, but failed. After finding insurance papers' he reported the man's condition to the company concerned, but no further action was taken, and Allen was found dead 24 hours' later. A verdict that death was due to cold and exposurewas returned, the coroner remarking that there had been an unfortunate error of judgment on the part of the witness who* found him under the influence of liquor.
