HEALTH OF SCHOOL CHILDREN.
(Per Press Association.*)
WANGANUI, last night. The Hon. James Allen visited Wanganui to-day, and was entertained by the Education Board in the afternoon, after which a deputation waited on him in regard to the - medical inspection oi school children. It was pointed out that it was absolutely impossible for working people -to have Dr. Gunn's recommendations carried out. A suggestion was mado that the Government should establish, a, State dentistry and medical service. If that were not done it would be an absolute waste of money appointing medical inspectors. Mr Allen said the Government realised the position, but he pointed out tliat the cost of -providing free medical with dental service WQ--Yd be enormous. Dr. . Gunn .bad been appointed in order that the •Government might ascertain the state of affairs. The whole question would have to >be gone into. ,
