' (From our ParliaihlTfitary Reporter.) . A WELLINGTON,, this day. In' reply to Mr' Glover,, the Premier states that the. Governnient has no power to release the Waihi -strike prisoners, unless he can advise the Governor that the judgment of the magistrate was erroneous, or not justified by the' evidence, or that circumstances have arisen since the j udgment which have materially altered the position with which the Co art dealt, and the Government cannot So advise. Replying to Mr 'Malcolm, the Prime Minister states : "Immigration., is one of the first matters that the Hiijh Commissioner is to enquire into' and report upon after his arrival m Eng^in'd. It is hoped that satisfactory arrangements will be able to be made " foA the future, but nothing can be dono .until after, the receipt of the Hon. T. Mackenzie's report." ■■ •' , The Hon. W. Allen states, m reply to Mr Mfdoolmn, that where it is considered 1 more convenient it is proposed to allow territorials ih country districts to undergo training m camp for four days immediately preceding the annual seven days, m lieu of 20 attendances 'at drills. An amendment to give effect to this will be made m the Defence regulations. The Public Revenues Act Amendment ; Bill was introduced m the House this afternoon by Governor's message.
