When she refused him he attempted to take her purse, and then, as she resisted, he seized a poker and beat her about the. head, till she died. He had previously been a bad boy. At the [trial he showed no , remorse. Tlie jury, after 20 minutes'" deliberation, found him guilty of murder arid robbery without extenuating circumstances.
