With reference to the statements m the Wanganui Chronicle, Prince Dikran <of Albania informed a pressman this anorning that he was a graduate m medicine from the American Presbyterian College at Beyrout, and that he bears official credentials, and the -highest recommendations from such gentlemen as Governor Hay, of Washington, the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox ChuVch of the East 1 , American missionaries m Pahstine, and well known clergymen m the United States. He then came on to Sydney on board £he steamer Marama. He just *a\r Mo* Wilford and heard him give two addresses. Other persons had spoken well of New Zealand, and this had decided him to break his journey at Auckland. His purpose to go to Dunedin was to stay two years to become a British subject, and he hoped to teach and study m one of the colleges there. The second call to lead the revolt was received by a letter which had been sent to America, and was forwarded to him m Xcw Zealand a week ago. v
CARTERTON, this day. In reference to the Association messages published this morning, 'Prince Dikran, the Albanian exile, states tht«t ho did not stay two years at Vancouver, but two weeks.'. He also says that 'he has instructed his solicitors to begin an action against the Wanganud Chronicle for comments as to his bona fides, and against journals which copied the comments. MASTERTO'X, this day.
It is understood that Prince Dikran intends to issue a writ for libel against the Wanganui Chronicle and the Xew Zealand Times Tor publishing .a statement doubting his credentials and bona fides. The Chronicle published, a- footnote to a telegram re Dikran, 1 and this vas sent out by tlTe Pi*«ss Association at Wanganui and published by various papers. Prior to issuing the writs against the Times and the Ghrqijipje,, Prince Dikran instructed Ms solicitors to demand apologies.
