A DIVERSION AT ALBANY.

AUCKLAND, kist night. The people of Albany have been having considerable diversion among themselves over the visit' of the Hon. Thos Mackenzie to their district last month in his capacity as Prime Minister. At last night's meeting of the Albany Fruitgrowers' Association this diversion was brought to some sort of finish. There Avas a big attendance of members. The president (Mr T. Foley) announced that "ho had an unpleasant task before him. It Avas one which affected the members of the Association. Mr Foley then referred to the visit of the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie to the district, and to the invitations which had been sent round by the president and members of the Association to meet the Premier. "\ Mr "Harris, the. member for the district, was included among those invited, and, according to a letter published by Mr Knight, the representative was refused the courtesy of being alloAved to see the Crown lands of the district on that occasion, added the speaker, who then moved that members of the Association disapprove of Mr Knight's ,action in publishing the fact that he refused to allow Mr Harris to go in ' <*:, motor • c£r to see the Grown lands in the district. A long and heated discussion followed,' after which the president reiterated thai lie only wanted to know the feeling oi the Association, and after some * futrther •discussion,, an amendment that •Mr Knight's action be approved of was made. The fact tha*t this was a direct negative of the original motion seemed to bother the meeting somewhat, and a little time Avas .spent in considering hbw the difficulty/had, hest be overcome.
