THANKSGIVING SERVICE

LONDON, July 12. The King and Queen have completed their Yorkshire tour. They inspected the factories and mills at Halifax and Huddersfield. The King, m a speech, expressed pleasure m observing the people's daily work. He made touching reference to the Cadeby ' disaster, and expressed his heartfelt sympathy with the mourners.
On Monday the King- a^nd Queen will attend a great national * service of thanksgiving for the. preservarfflon of Winchester Cathedral. The day will be the eight hundred and nineteenth anniversary''"'of.;'the; consecration and dedication to St: Swithih.i On the 19th there will 'be! a spebial school service, m which Wykehamists will be joined by representatives' of ; ; the, other great schools which haVe Abfeen founded on Wykeham's iriodel to render thanfcs m "the building Avhich the founder remodelled and beautified,' and m Avhich he lies enshrined. Like the Israelites of Solomon's Day, tjhe people will-, "rejoice m that they offered willingly.". It has cost £113,000 to r save this glorious monument of our history and temple of our living faith from ruin. Tlie public has responded llpbly tp the: untiring work of the Dean and- Chapter. The Avork will be -fitly crowned by this great national thanksgiving. y
