REEFTON, this day

The citizens' . committee yesterday received a wire from Sir A. R. Guinness,stating that the Premier, seeing that the deadlock here had been referred <to the Arbitration Court, suggested that; pending a decision, work be resumed at the mines. Mr Phillips, acting-chairman of the committee, thanked the Speaker and Premier, and called a meeting. A deputation waited on : - the, general manager of the Consolidated Goldfields and presented the suggestion. Mr Evans agreed to forward the proposition to the Mineowners' Association. Owing to the exodus of ; single men, the men coming off the'rbad' Avorks have not SAvelled^the union roll as much as expected. Only nineteen names have been recorded as the increase. The county is still employing all *it possibly can.
