(Per Press Association.) ■ a< „'*■ * AUCK J;AXD, last night. 7 ' At .the-, Supreme Court to-day, a seritence of three months' imprisonment was imposed .by Mr Justice Sim m the case of Ernest Isaac Carter, a bankrupt, against whom the Official Assignee had issued a summons 'to show cause why he shoidd not be punished for contempt of Court. , - At the Town Hall this afternoon, 3000 scholars of the secondary and private schools foregathered at the invitation ot the Mayor and City' Council. The function was of a similar nature to that which took place on the occasion of thfl opening of the Town Hall, when the children of the primary schools attended lo view the new structure, hear the new organ, and .listen, to brief addresses by public men, which aimed at creating a sense of civic enthusiasm and responsibility m the youthful 'mind. Leading •public men and representatives of the churches were seated ion the platform, while, the grand organ was manipulated Joy Mr Sharp. , ** .. V \, V tfNEORC last night. At the Magistrate's Court, a yountr man named Albert David W(lljam Clements was charged with having assaulted Henry Symonds and with having caused him actual bodily harm. Symonds died at; the hospital yesterdayj and the inquest Unto the circumstances of his death Avas opened and adjourned. The police applied for a remand until next day, and this was granted.
