Jolly Boy was second and Fiddlestring third, the betting on the race was 7 to 2 against Jolly Boy, 5 to 1 Beroll, 6 to 1 Dunloe and Fiddlestring, 8 to 1 Olivenza, 25 to 1 Hallmark, Hallmark and Jolly Boy wero first to show out. and led over the initial obstacle from Olivenza, Dunloe, Beroll, Pakau, and Captain Bell. Beroll lost his rider at the jump opposite the St. Leger, where Hallmark was leading from Joll Boy, Olivenza, Dunloe, Fiddlestring, Captain Bell, nnd Loughrea. The same order was maintained passing the stand. Hallmark led past the mile by three lengths from Jolly Boy, Olivenza, Dunloe, Pakau, Captain Bell, Fiddlestring, and Loughrea. Fiddlestring ran up to Hallmark at the Aye furlongs, followed by Jolly Boy, Pakau, Dunloe, Olivenza, Captain Bell, and Loughrea. Hallmark and Fiddlestring came round the bend m advance of Pakau, Jolly Boy, Dunloe, Olivenza, and Loughrea. Hallmark finished full of running, and won by a length and a half from Jolly Boy, which beat Fiddlestring by five lengths. Then came I Dunloe, Olivenza, Loughrea, Pakau, and Load- ! star.
