NEW r %>RK; May 17. Arrangements are^ being perfected bya committee of sixty prominent American writers for the organisation of. a society to be known as the League of Authors and Dramatists. It is strictly a business concern, ' which aims at securing for these literary workers', .full and prompt returns for their labor. The desire of the promoters is to standardise, as far as possible, many matters between author and publisher that are now the subject of individual- contracts* . -The league, Which expects to have its scheme m operation by September next has been modelled on the lines, of similar organisations m England and France. »
