RUPTURE Successfully Treated by Dr. J. A. Sherman's Method. This is an extract from the. sworn evidence, before- his Honor Judge Murray, of a, Sydney lady, at the District Court, Sydney : — "I have been ruptured 17 years. Consulted! Dr. Pickburn, who advised a truss and fitted it. At times it would not retain the rupture, and was very uncomfortable. Later 1 consulted Dr. Laaigston. He made me a belt, which caused me great pain, and I could not wear, it after five or six days' Consulted Mr A. W. Martin about five years ago. He examined me and said he could cure me m six months. He gave me an appliance and a bottle of lotion. From the time I put the appliance on— loth April—-till I took it off— loth October— l never suffered, any pain, and the rupture never troubled me again. At the end of six mouths, when I took the band off, I had gained two stone m weight.' I have had no recurrence, or sign of the runture " SWORN EVIDENCE before his Honor Judge Murray, m the District Court, Sydney, of John Brooker, farmer and grazier, Singleton, New South Wales :-r- . .. "I am 62 years of age; got a rupture: when a boy, and have been ruptured for 50 years. I always wore a truss, but the rupture was -never retained. -Consulted Dr. Pentland, of Singleton, .five years ago/ and he sent ma to a truss-maker m Newcastle,, from whom I got a truss, but could not wear it., as it would not support the rupture, which got worse, coming down so large that it filled the scrotum. Many a time I )iad to lie down to get it back, and/ whilst doing so experienced great pain. It was most difficult at times to get it back at all, and on one occasion the pain was so great that I was compelled to have hot fomentations to ease the pain. In, June" ISO 6, I saw one of Mr Martin's advertisements, and the next morning I rods 25 miles to see him 'at Singleton. He examined me and said: he could! relieve me if Ji took the Sherman treatment, but did hot guarantee to cure. I told him I doubted that I could be cured, bat said: 1i you ■can relieve -me 15 • shall be satisfied, as life is not worth living as lam at present.' After/he/ fitted me I felt comfortable, And! the rupture was retained, ..and I could 'run about and do all manner of work without inconvenience*. The Sherman appliance has. always retained the rupture. Sand' I have , never had any troublo since wearinjf it. During the first twelve months I gained one and a-half stone m weight. After wearuig the appliance for that time I went t<> Or. Pentland again, who was "surprised 1 at thY change, as I was getting so fat. Since wearing :the appliance I have done the heaviest of work, and the • rupture has never shown. ,1 consider lam cured, and frequently go without the appliance when not working; but, ,p« an extra precaution^, I always wear ,it while working. I have seen no ngn of the rupture, ancl consider, that the orifice is closed. I never had such treatment before, and am certain it Eaved my life. y Before, wearing it, although I worked, I had to do it m paia, and had to hold myself and stop work frequently. Now I have no trouble whatever. . lam not a rich man, but won VI willingly pay £50 for the treatment I have had dozens of trusses m my time, but not one equal to the Sherman appliance." . . " On the sworn evidenco of a. lending surgeon of S?ydnev. who examined a number, of Mr Martini .patients, * the Sui-peon failed to find the presence of Rupture m persons who had previously suffered for 3 14 26, and 50 years. ■ ' Tir. Brooker, of Single tot), who stated thaj, ho had suffered from Rupture for 50 years, and I cannot feel any intestine now." ; Mr Martin is a Rupture Specialist. " He adapts the treatment;- to suit each v«\se, and to this is attributed the .su-efs of the Sherman Method.
