VON ARK, TO-NIGHT.
To-night m His Majesty's Theatre, the above organisation, presenting magi-.-and hypnotism, will commence a two nights' season. A contemporary says : "Hypnotism and conjuring, with a brief interlude of comic juggling, forms the entertainment given by the Von Arx Company. Murphy, the American comic juggler, occupied a quarter of an hour, to the enjoyment of the audience, interspersing clever work with the ridiculous. Several of his feats are clever, and all are diverting, and he comes m for his full share of the applause. The third artist who assists m the programmo is -Professor Dean. His contribution consists of an explanation of a "while you wait" brand of Hypnotism, and with the aid of about a dozen assistants he gives examples of what the programme calls "tests." The subjects all respond to the "influence" with commendable rapidity^ The audience is never kept waiting, and most of them have a very fair idea of comedy, so the laughter is only lacking while the professor is making his explanatory remarks.
