170,000 MEN STILL IDLEFRESH pEMANDS MADE. (Press Assn.—By Telegraphs— Copyright.) (Received May 4, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 3. A tentative agreement, providing a basis of settlement of tjhe anthracite coal dispute, has been rejected, the mine workers refusing to accept the proposals.-. One hundred and seventy thousand men are still idle. The Locomotive Firemen's Union is now demanding an increased wages' scale commensurate with that secured by the engineers. The railroad managers declare, that the men's demands mean an additional five' million pounds sterling m the wages* bill.
