Crubb, who was killed through falling while stepping off a moving, train at Henderson on Tuesday, the* evidence showed that .deceased got on. to the platform step before the train came within the area of the station lights. Ho 'sustained «v broken clavicle, three broken ribs, a perforated lung, and other injuries, being dragged about 25 yards. A verdict of accidental death was' returned. .'..■.-• A young man named Stanley Jones wjijJ leading a horse at Birkenhead yesterday, ' when the animal shied at an election motor car and bolted. Jones' leg was ' caught m the leading chain, and he: was dragged about 50. yards, sustaining a severe fracture, and other injuries. ,-'•■. HAMLTON, this day. J. R. Palmer, contractor; aged 56, died suddenly at the deviation works on Tuesday night. At the inquest a verdict was returned of death from ( alcoholic poisoning. Deceased was a heavy drinker of schnapps. DUNEDIN, this day. Wm. Bateman, an aged rabbiter, was found dead m his *hut at Mount Pisa. Death was probably due to heart disease.

Mr Wm. Fitzgerald, of "Derry" farm, Levels, met his death on Saturday m a painfully sudden and simple way (states the Timaru Herald], He had been m town during the day, and drove out m the afternoon, accompanied by his wife and. daughter. When near his home at Kerrytown he handed the reins to his wife while he filled his pipe. A rabbit ran out from the hedge m front of the 'horse/ which stopped suddenly. Mr Fitzgerald was thrown out, and the horse, starting again, pulled the trap over him. Mr Fitzgerald was promptly picked up and taken home, but he expired about an hour later. Mr Fitzgerald was a well-known and successful farmer, and had just made arrangements to hand his farm over to his. sons and retire.-
