SEWERAGE INSTALLATION.

KAITI SECTION NEARLY- READY

The installation of the Kaiti- section of the sewerage system is nearing completion, and the .'Borough Engineer hopes to have the same in -operation in about six weeks'.' time.

A number of large east-iron pipes for the Esplanade road sewer were" being landed from the 'Squall this morning. These pipes 'will enable this important sewer to be completed. Practically all that then remains to be done is the completion of the outfall from the Kaiti septic tank. ' The contractor for this work, Mr Heeney, has a large portion of the' outfall' in* position. The outfall is of cast-iron, .-which is being put down in concerete to the outer edge of the reef, some distance past the breakwater. A few cast, iron fittings for the septic tank also remain to be placed in position, and these are expected to arrive dairy. The laying of' the sewers throughout Kaiti has been expeditiously completed by the Council's own staff. It will thus b© seen that the Kaiti section will shortly be ready for use, and already several house installations have been put in. .The Borough Engineer states that it would be advisable for houseowners to lose no time in connecting up, as notices in terms of the. by-law, will shortly be issued, calling upon property owners to do. so.
