HOOLIGANS IN AUCKLAND.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, tins day. There was an extraordinary occurrence in the bar of the Occidental hotel last night. It is stated that five youths entered the bar. After having drinks they expressed some grievance against a Whangarei barman who happened to be in the bar, and it is alleged that they set upon him, and handled him very roughly. They, drove off in a motor cafr,. and returned subsequently and asked for drinks, which the barman objected to supply in consequence of their behavior on the previous visit." They became abusive. An . Auckland resident stepped in- from another part of the hotel, and advised them to be quiet. ' It is alleged that they set upon him, knocked him on the floor, and kicked him. The proprietor of the hotel appearing on the scene, they again decamped in a motor car, which has been I identified as a hired vehicle. The police are now on their track.
