BICYCLE RACE.
There were 10 starters m the; bicycle race held veslerday afternoon under the. auspices of the Britannia Cycling Club. The course was round, Makauri and back to town, about 12 miles,' and thg race was the' second of a series of events . for tho handsome shield donated 'by the .Licensed Victuallers' Association. The rond was '■ rough m. places, but an.interesting race resulted,' all the contestants finishing •within two and a-half v minutes from the time the first man arrived. The Tesult . was ' as follows:—^ Wilkinson (2min.) 1, E. Torri6M(lo sec.) 2, F. Mawhinney (scr.) 3. . Points for chainptonship shield (fastest- tim£s) : F. Mawhinney (5 points) 1, E. Torrie> (3 points) 2, A. Matthews (1 point) 3. Mawhinney, is' now leading for the shield by, 10, points, Torrie is next with 6 points, and Mai thews has 2 points. There are two. more events:- to. come off before the winner of the shield is decided.
