Mr A. Carmer has been appointed engineer for the Invercargill Town Council. Mr Carmer, Avho is 31 years of age, learned his profession m Wellington, having been apprenticed with . Messrs Cable and Co. He gained two scholarships at the Wellington Technical School and he also obtained certificates from the South Kensington School of Art, London. Later, he entered the service of the Union Company, and for the last tAvo years he has been an engineer m the Cluristchurch tramway poAver house. Mr W. L. Parker, also a Wellington boy, and noAv an engineer m the Dunedin City Converter Station, has been appointed assistant to Mr Carmer.
