COAL FOR THE FLEET.
WASHINGTON, March 1. In order to avoid the heavy expenditure of £200,000 per year for carrying coal round Cape Horn for the Paeili fleet, it has been urged by Mr George Meyer, Secretary for the NaTy, ' that the coalfields of Alaska be utilised by the Government.
