AUCKLAND, this day A fatal accident occurred m the' Taupiri Coal Company's extended mine yesterday. Some trucks broke aAvay on an incline and a'trucker named G. Bain Avas jammed between them and-, a' full skip' which he Avas attending to.. '• Deceased received terrible injuries and died almost at once. He came from Aberdeen, Scotland: >>-.-■■ At the Te "Aroha- races yesterday Cuckoo slipped and fell, bringing doAvli Master Lane. The, former's jockey l(McFlynn) sustained "serious injury to his back, and Master Lane's rider (Sceats) had both bis collar-bones broken.
WELLINGTON, this day. •-- A, Woman, so far unidentified;, was knocked down by a tramcar m Featherston street last iiight. She had one leg broken and her head badly, cut. She Avas taken to the hospital.
