ANGLICAN CHURCH EXTENSION.
A meeting of residents of Kaiti Avas held last evening m the local Public School m connection Avith the proposed Church hall for that suburb. The "Vicar of Gisborne (Rev. L. DaAVson Thomas) presided, arid outlined the steps that had been taken toAvards Church extension m Kaiti. In tlie sister suburb of Mangapapa similar action had been taken, and had been crowned Avith ex. traordinary success. There they had a band of people, poor m pocket but rich m enthusiasm, who faced the quesr tion of building a hall. The result vyas visible to all who passed by. 'Kaiti, Avith its most favored conditions, Avould also have its plans materialised m the very near future. , Mr F. ,T. Morgan, the treasurer, gave a- statement of fin* ance. showing that there , Avas •m hand, or m sight, a sum of £350, a largG amount of which had been, procured by Mr J. IW. Nolan. The meeting; elected as Church trustees Mr A. H. Wallis and Mr J. W. Nolan. The fine church site] of over an acre m extent, Avhich , has, been^presented to the parish by s'Mr Ai H. A general committee- Avas elected; consisting of. Messrs Wallis, Nolan, Morgan, Fyson, Bloore, Edelsten and Humphreys! Mr Humphreys Avas appointed secretary: It was decided to build a Church hall at once. A committee meeting will be held m Mr Nolan's office at 3 o'clock next Monday to consider matters m connec tion Avith the building arrangements. ' The building of a hall at Kaiti marks another important' step m connection with Anglican Church extension m Gis- 1 borne. The hall, Avhich will be avail; able for ordinary purposes on Aveekdays, will be very useful m the rapidly growing suburb of Kaiti. : ' :
