A fire broke out on» the steamer Ethel Wolfe m, the bunkers, oh January 19, Avhen the vessel was- HOG miles from Bunbury. It Avas decided to put back. The smoke and fumes Avere so dense that the crew Avere unable to properly tackle the fire. Working with blankets; round their heads and wet sponges over their mouths the crew managed to keep a check on the fire. Owing "to having ty use half-burned' coal tlie steamer was Unable to make much headAvay." The fire Avas still burning on arrival m port. The damage -caused is serious.
