A PECULIAR PETITION.
VALIDITY OF STRANGE MARRIAGE (Press Asßn.— By Telegraph.— Copyright.) (Received January 18, 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, January 17. Mr Justice Kenny at Dublin held that the Usher marriage was invalid m the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church, and yet wag capable of being validated, but was already absolutely valid according to the . taarriage laws of Ireland. The petition was for thfe nullity of the marriage on the ground, of Usher; the petitioner, being a. member of the Roman Catholic Church. In a bedroom m his house at 10 p.m. he went through a ceremony, purporting to be a ceremony of marriage, with one Mary Caulfield, who was employed as a housemaid at .petitioner's house. The petitioner further said that the marriage should be declared null and void, as there was only one witness present, and as the ceremony was not carried out according to the rites, . ceremonies, and regulations of the Roman Catholic- Church. The petition was dismissed, with costs.
