' At ,the adjourned special meeting last night, the City Council further considered the case of Inspector Fuller, of the ■Tramways Department: Inspector. Fuller was present,.} with Mr Herdman as his counsel* Representatives of the Tramways Employees Union were also , present,- but -declined- to take any -part . m the proceedings if counsel was per- [ •mitted to remain. They urged that Mr Fuller ought to bo able to defend him- : self. The Council decided to adhere to its previous decision to allow Mi' Fuller to have legal assistance, whereupon the union representatives withdrew, and the' ■inquiry .was proceeded with m their ab- j sencc. Mr Fuller made a statement m reply to the charges formulated by tho union., Mr Herdman putting leading 'questions from time totime, with a view j >to assisting him therein. After hearing'th'e" statement," the Councilc^adjourned I proceedings until the 25th inst., when : at.- the ordinary meeting of the Council Cr/Shirtcliffe -ivill move to rescind, the I resolution passed at the last" Ordinary ' meeting to transfer Mr "Fuller from tho ticket inspectorship to some other employment m the Council's service.
