PROGRESS IN GISRORNE.

BUTLDING INDUSTRY. Reporting upon the building progress throughout the Borough, the Building Inspector, Mr R. 0. Skeet, advised the Borough Council last evening that: — For the quarter ending 31st December, 1911, 50 permits were issued as under: 20 dwellings, value £9959 10s; 19 additions to dwellings, £1147; 1 church, £6860; 1 wtore, £3900; 2 additions to shops, £110; 7 sundry jobs, £404; total £21,380 10s. The building fees collected amounted to £64 10s. For tho corresponding period of 1910, 37 permits were issued for various works, ot the value of £19,281 10s. The 12 months ending 31st December, 1911, shows a considerable increase on the previous year. For 1911 the total value of work for which permits were issued was £90,430; for 1910 the total value was £72,887; the increase being £17,543. In 1910 permits were issued for 129 dwellings, value £45,001; and m 1911 for 142 dwellings, value £68,683.
