THEOSOPHICAL LECTURE.

There was »t large audience to hear Miss C W. Christie's lecture upon "Jesus and the Christ," given m His Majesty's Theatre last night, and great interest was shown m the lecture. The lecturer began by giving a sketch of the evolutionary scheme, the formation of (he different ' races of men up to. the present, our own great Aryan, or sth race with its seven subdivisions,' and stated that following this. there would be two more, the 6th and 7th races on this planet, before the" evolution of this particular humanity is complete. Some souls, however, like very clever children m our day schools, complete their evolutions long before the normal period— it is as though they passed two or three standards m one year. The first of pur humanity to , do this was the .Lord Buddha; and Bucklhnliood is a stage m evolution not belonging to only one man, but to all who reach that stage. The Buddha had charge of all the religions m the world, and when He passed on to do still higher work FTe handed them on to His successor, the Lord Maitreya, called m Christendom the Chrst. The Christ took the body of the absolutely pure and. sinless disciple Jesus, and while dwelling m it founded the Christian religion, worked the miracles recorded m our Scriptures, till after three years of such glorious work the body was killed, not by the irreligious people, but by the narrow, orthodox religionists of that day, who called ' Him blasphemer, scourged Him, sj>at on Him, and then killed I Him. He is coming again within, probably much within 20 years, and again He will take, the body of a disciple, and the danger is that the same class of people, the narrow, religious bigots, will again kill Him, not m the same violent manner; we are too civilised, the lecturer said, for that now, but m other and more, subtle ways. They will shout Ant'christ, will hate His unconventional attitude, and will see faults and impute wrong motives, especially if he does not preach their religion. Jim Christ cannot belong to any religion. He gives and loves them all, and comes this time to draw all religions together and found a world-religion whose keynote is brotherhood, nic lechirer then dealt with five stories, and continued: "Yes, Christ will come ns soon as the world peace is proclaimed, and I, as well as many others, believe that the Lord Jesim will return with Him and will work through the best organisation m the Christian Church. Do 'not let anyone frighten you with the cry or Antichrist. Believing m the wrong one m not the danger; the real danger is that you will he so suspicious that you will misa "the. real one, therefore determinedly look first for thp good m everyone, the Lord will nee you are not too long deceived. Never see the Lad till you have seen all the good m everyone you meet; then when Christ comes you will see such a blaze of glory that doubt will be impossible, and the Christ spirit within you will be drawn to Him as steel filings are irresistibly drawn to a steel magnet. See that we do not kill Him m three years this time. What, if He comes m n .body with n brown skin? Australia would not let Him land; get over race prejudice. He is coming "soon. New members of the Order of the Star m the, East were then enrolled to protect the body of the Great Teooher.
