THE AUCKLAND FIRE.
J SUPPOSED ATTEMPTED BURG LARY.
(I'er Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, tin's day. It is stated that an investigation of the safe m Mackay, ijogan and Caldwell's premises, destroyed by fire, showed 12 or 14 deep incisions close to the handle, apparently caused by a chisel. The contents of the safe included several hundred pounds worth of light jeM'ellery. This gives some color to the theory that there may be some commotion between the conflagration and an unsuccessful attempt at burglaiy.
