FIRES AT WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, this dayTwo houses in Clinton Terrace, Wellington, joined by a passage, and used as a boardinghouse, were destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. Some sheets that were airing by the fire in the laundry, became ignited, and the flames spread rapidly, fanned by a high wind. The houses were completely destroyed, together with all the contents, including the effects of fifteen boarders. The buildings were owned bv H. Miller, and insured for £1900 in the United Office. .Mr Polkinghorne, who occupied the premises, had his furniture and effects insured in the United Office for £500.
