"What is it proposed to do when we get through the sewerage loan oi £60 - SOO and the- extra £6060?" queried •XV Bright at the Borough (pbuncil meeting last night. He pointed , out that the amount that had been expendedJup to August 22 was £60,190. Since then they had raised a loan of £6060. He did not know how much had been expended since August 22. The Clerk: The money is not exha'usted^yet. ■ . . . Or Bright: It must be jolly near it. The Mayor : It is a matter that will have to tbe thought out. Cr Darton remarked that they were (Waiting for Mr Metcalfe's report on the sewerage. ! Cr Bright wanted to ktiow how much of 'the. loans. -was left. I. The Clerk said he could not say. \ • ' Cr Bortght: Well, I think you ought Jbo be able to. We want to know when we overstep the mark.- He thought it was 'unsatisfactory to bo diifting along and not know the position. They ought to know what money was being expended fortnight. . The. Cr Darton said ho thought they were to have gone into the whole master that night with Mr- Metcalfe. The Mayor, agreed tliat they' should know the position at each meeting. Be said Mr Metcalfe had. --been' delayed m the South but would be passing through Gisborne next morning and he had arI'anged to have a conference vriih. him.
It was agreed that the Mayor should
ask Mr Metcalfe to have his report ready by the next Council meeting if possible.
