IpNEDIN, this day. Mi';R. H.. Ppifglas. Independent eral. candidate for Dunedin North, opened his campaign last night. He attributed the increased cost of living to ;inoeased wages and inflated land values, and said due method of meeting the difh-, culty was State competition. On jthe land question he favored leasehtild. tenure^. andi said Grown lands should hot be disposed of. He urged the immediate opening up of unused native lands.. He approved of a National Provident Fund. He supported the bare*majoifity and State control of the liquor trade. He declared that the totalisator was: no worse than the average church bazaar, and he advocated the .-freehold. A vote of thanks was laccoi'ded the candidate.
