INVASION OF' HOSPITAL

A mob, believing that the officials' action to combat cholera was the outcome of a design to slaughter innocent people, besieged the Town Hall. They overcame a small force of carbineers and sacked the building. The* mob then invaded the hospital and carried away the patients, some of whom were on the point of death, to their homes. . I
Tiie military were subsequently reinforced :and quelled the riot.
