TOWN EDITION
The Gisborne Fire Board met this afternoon, when there were present : Messrs. J. Townley, G. Smith, ThornoGeorge, S. Dean, and Dr Collins. Inspector Hugo was present, and the Board decided to go into committee, to confer with him on various subjects. The Gisborn© Bowling Club open their green to-morrow afternoon, when enthusiasts are invited to be present. The Vita Bros.' orchestra will be pre,sent, and will enliven the function with selections. Ladies are especially invited to attend. The Turangamn Bowling Club also celebrate the opening of the season to-morrow afternoon. That there is a great demand for small suburban homestead blocks has been proved by the number of inquiries respecting the land sale to-morrow, the subdivision of Mr Thos. Hacche's Whataupoko property having aroused keen interest among land-seekers. The sale taktes place at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow, on the premises, adjoining the residence of the iate Mr P. Barker, and will be conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, m conjunction with Mr C. G. Bloore.
