MR O* 'NELSON "TO BE A CANtTmA'rE.
(Special to Herald.)
# NAPIKH, this day. In response to the request of a large deputation, Mr George Nelson, principal director of Niven and Company, has agreed to contest the Napier seat at the next general election. Mr Nelson said that if he stood for Parliament he was not going to stand under any false colors at all. "If I stand," said Mr Nelson, "t will .stand as an Independent Liberal. I will not tie- myself to any party." Continuing, Mr Nelson said that his endeavor would be to work m with the Government, but if he ascertained that it 'was impossible to do that with credit to his conscience, then he might decide upon a different course. He would endeavor to work with the Government till he had reason for doing otherwise. "I hope you will not be disappointed. TJo not gauge me by the number of railway stations and* post offices that might be erected. One must go m entirely free. If one colil<| not go m and conduct one's self m a statesmanlike manner, it would be better not to go m at all."
