A ROWDY MEETING.
PROHIBITION AT MASTERTON.
(Per Press Association.) MASTERTON, this day. Mr Bedford commenced an open-air address oil; prohibition On Saturday night m the presence of over '■*&■' thousand people. He had a trying time, being subjected almost continually to loud hooting and yelling. Cheers were given for both- sides of the question. Then Mi? E. G. Eton, chairman of the local Hospital ' Board and a member of dtfoer public bodies, got up on the platform and denounced prohibition as a failure from a business point of view. Mr Jabez Bridges, no-license organiser, was then refused a 'hearing. Then Mr Cameron, another well known resident, put a motion m favor of restoration, and this was declared carried hy air overwhelming / majority. It was* the rowdiest 'gathering held here for 20 years. ...
