—■ ♦ (Per Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, thi* day. Mrs Purdy, whose dead body was found m the Hutt river, left a note or the dining-room table: "I am m thc river at tho back. God help you, mother." She went to bed at midnight. She was then m good health. She wae missed by her husband at 5.30 this morning. The body was lying m nine inches of water, clothed only m a nightdress. Her wrapper and slippers were found on the bank higher up tin stream. Deceased only returned fron Australia ten days ago. A conference of delegates representing various swimming associations was helc to-day to discuss the question of having New Zealand represented m the contests at the Festival of Empire. A letter wai read from Sydney, stating that it wai suggested that a team of seven mci should be sent to represent Australii and New Zealand. The team would, re quire to be m England at latest by th< 21st April. The conference decided tha the association should do its best to wards the movement for having Austra lasia represented at the festival.
