CREMATING PLAGUE VICTIMS. PEKIN, February 3. The burning of the dead bodies*of the plague victims that have accumulated m Harbin, Manchuria, has begun, and thousands of corpses have already been destroyed The cremating operations are being carried on outside the town. The coffins are stacked upright, surrounded with logs, and then saturated with oil, after which a torch is applied. \ Those who are carrying out this unpleasant and risky work protect themselves with heavy masks and, bandages treated with powerful' disinfectants, but the coolies who drive the waggons, being fatalists, fearlessly handle the bodies without taking any precautions against infection. It will require reveral days to cremate the bodies already collected. I
