the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on thetr stock sale held on Wednesday, Bth inst. As seasonable rains had been experienced, considerably more activity was manifest m the stock markets. The yardings m the sheep department were fairly heavy, but not many cattle came forward. The following is the result of the day's business :— Sheep : We yarded and sold 41ol» the bulk of the entry being ewes. Cull ewes, botters, made from 2s to 4s, medium linfa of late shorn ewes 5 to 6 years old, 5s to 6s lOd, 5 and 6 years (straight line) 8» 3d, twotooth ewes (culls) 6s to 7« 6d, luediuni 10* 2d, forward ewes Bs, fat ewes lis 6d. There were very few fats m the market ; two-tooth wethers (small) 8s Bd, medium lines 10s 6d to 10s 7d, whilst we sold a line of 635 two. tooth wethers from Mr J. M. Monoktoh, AnN manu, at lis; fat wethers flight weights) 12* 7d, better finished 13s 9d. Lambs: Not a great many came forward; we sold culls at Is lid to 3s 2d, medium lines of shorn lambs 4s 3d to 5s 9d. Pigs were a .small entry; weaner* sold at 7s. Cattle: We yarded 171 and sold 117. Herd cows made £2 17s 6d, dairy net. fers £3 15s, 18 months' fo 2-year-old- heifers £3, 18 months' to 2-year-old steers £3 16s j calves (small) 20s to 22s 6d, heifer calves 30s, mixed weaners m good condition £2 6s. We sell again on Wednesday, 15th inst., and expect a large entry of useful sheep.
