— •>■ (Presß Assn.— By Telegraph.— Copyright.) | BOMBAY, Feb. 9. Sir Sydenham Clarke has laid the foundation of the hydro-electric works, which are to dam the valleys in the Ghats. The dams will be 8900 feet in length, and some 70ft high, and will create lakes covering 22,511 acres, transmitting 40,000 horse-power to the Bombay cotton mills, a distance of 43 miles.
