«-» P.B. TURF CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. SECOND DAY. Dull weather again prevailed to-day for the concluding day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club's annual meeting. The attendance was good. There were large entries,' and as was the case yesterday, the interesting finishes reflected credit on Mr-H. COyle's handicapping. Mr W. G. Sherratt, who occupied the judge's box, gave entire satisfaction. The popular secretary (Mr D. R. deCosta) again had the arrangements well in hand. The -results were: STEWARDS' HANDICAP, of 80 sovs, second horse to receive 10 sovs from stake; 7 furlongs. Mr L. Furr's Iney, by Birkenheadr— ■ Lady Reay, 8.12 (J. Buchanan)... 1 Mr H. Hickey's Lord Possible, 9.5 (W. Kirk) ... ... 2 —The pair were the only starters. Lord .Possible jumped away with a lead of a length, which was soon increased to several lengths. Nearing the bend, however,' Iney put in a fine sprint, and coming up the straight passed the topweight, and won by three lengths. Time; L3.4?5. SECOND HURDLES HANDICAP, of •60 sovs, second horse to receive 10 sovs from stake ; i£ miles. Mr VR... Sherratt's Swarthmoor, by Monaco— Glauvena, 9.12 (Cameron) 1 Mr C. Morse's Te Arai, 11.8 (Young) 2 Mr J. McHardy's Eiya, 11.2 (Flynn) 3 —Also started : Haurangi 9.0 and 3£lbs overweight (Home). All the acceptors faced the atarter, who despatched the horses to a fairly even start. Eiya and Haurangi rose together at the first jump, but at the next hurdle Haurangi fell heavily. Passing . the stand Eiya was leading Swarthmoor by four lengths, whilst Te Arai was several lengths in the rear. 1 The two rear horses gradually closed up, and at the back of the course Swarthmoor cleared the obstacle with Eiya, and Te Arai a length behind. After the next hurdle Swarthmoor took the lead, and came in a comfortable winner by' half a dozen lengths. Te Arai beat Eiya on the post for second money, Flynn apparently being caught napping. Time, 2.50 2-5. SECOND HACK FLAT HANDICAP, of 50 sovs, second horse to receive 10 sovs from stake ; 7 furlongs. M)r F. Gordon), Cork 7.5 (HJ Griffiths), Water o' Milk 7.3 and Ist overweight (L. Lambess), Rising Sun 7.3 (H. Kirk). Miss Sylvia showed out firat, but Kilsyth soon joined her in the lead. At the corner ATdfert, Cork, and Monsieur Soult moved up, and half a doxeh horses entered the- straight in a bunch. Ardfert then drew away and Won by a length, a similar distance separating second and third horses. <Cbrk finished' half a length behind the third horse ; Kilsyth was fifth, whilst Water o' Milk; which had been last off the mark, brought up the rear.
