P.B. SHEEP DOC TRIAL CLUB.
SIXTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING. The sixteenth annual meeting of the P.B. -Sheep Dog Trial Club was held at Ormond hotel last evening. Mr J. A. Caesar presided. A letter was received from the secretary of the proposed North Island Association, and after discussion, the secretary was instructed, to write for further information. The general committee's report, submitted by Mr R. Thelwall, secretary, congratulated! members upon the steady advance made byi the club and the increasing interest manifested m its wef-- ; fare. La-st year's trials were unfortunately considerably interfered with by the disastrous flood, which inundated the flats. The consequent postponement ol tho gathering had caused considerable i financial loss to the club, as a number of competitors could not obtain extended , leave, and were reluctantly- compelled to return home. In foregoing these nominations, some £9 was lost. The club also 'lost the services of Mr W. O. , Rutherford, of Canterbury, one of the most capable judges m the Dominion, owing to the alteration m dates. The . trials, however, were a pronounced success. The entries were again large, and - the work done m all classes was of a high standard. The club waa more than justifying its existence by ' the improvement shown each year m the work; The balance-sheet showed a loss of £7 5s 6d. Receipts for the year totalled £118 19s 6d. A large increase m the amount of stakes last trials also depleted finances. 0* the £126 5s expended, £62 14s was paid away m cash prizes. The committee had everto confidence that the deficit on lost year's trials would be more than made up this year. The thanks of the club were due to Mr J. Russelj, who, on short notice, undertook and carried out tho duties of judge m a manner which gavo tho 'utmost satisfaction.' ! Thanks were also duo to Mrs Bruce and Messrs Neenan and Jeffrey for the use of grounds. Tlie president, Mr J. A.
