The .business set dowrt on to-day's order paper for 'the House includes the consideration of r number of minor Bills, Viz., Animals, Protection Act Amendment, Crimes Act Airieridment Native Townships Bill, and Stone Quarries Bill, followed by the Land Settlement Finance Bill, the subject ol last week's all-night sitting. The Legislative Council has got abreast of its work, and will not sit till to-riiorrow evening,, when the Defence Bill comep up for discussion. The Land Bill, which -was referred to the; Lands Committee a month ' ago, engaged the attention ;of .the Committee last week, and was further considered today. ' • '■ '"i The drafting of the Medical Practitioners' Bill and amendments to the Public Health Act as 'regards vaccination is at present m the hands of the Crown law draughtsman. ' According to the Minister, of Marine, oil is likely to be extensively used as a motive power for steamers ontfce New Zealand coast before long, and its use will affect the employment of firemen. Mr Millar informed a deputation of seariien yesterday that companies were standing off till the permanence of the Taranaki oilfields was proved, and once that was established, they would equip their ships to use ; it.
