TE HAPARA SCHOOL.
In response to the ilawke's Bay Education Board's advertisement calling a meeting of householders interested in the new Milltown school, about 40 residents met last evening in Whinray's Hall. Mr V. W. Tiffen was voted to the chair, and explained the object, of the meeting. Messrs G. Darton and W. Morgan, members of the Education Board, were also present. Mr J. Golding read the proposed boundaries as suggested by the ' Board, as follows':— "Commencing at a point in the borough of Gisbornb where Stanley road meets th© Taruheru river, thence bounded on the north by the Taruheru river to the eastern boundary • of the cemetery reserve, thence bounded on the west by the eastern boundary of the cemetery reserve and the western boundary of the : subdivision D of the Matawherd B block; thence bounded on th© south and •west by the south boundary of Matrfwhero B block and the Waikanae stream to Lytton road ; thence by Lytton road and the continuation of the line of Lytton road to the sea; thence bounded on the south by the sea to Stahley road ; thence bounded on the east by Stahley road till it meetsi the Taruheru river— the > starting point.'! Mr Golding proposed that they should agree to the boundaries submitted, but that the following boundary should. also be added, "from the cemetery reserve, continuation of Lytton road across the 1 river until it reaches the back of. Ormond road to where it reached 'the j northern boundary -of" the- Matokitoki block ; thence by a road forming the western boundary of tho said block aria section 21 of the Hap«ra block to thv I'aruhai'ti- river; thence by Taruheru river .to-'* the .eastern boundary of tht cemetery reserve." This, he explained, would take in the houses at Taruheru. Mr Darton sketched on a blackI board, the proposed boundaries, and the additional boundary suggested by Mr Golding, which on. being put to the meeting, was unanimously agreed to, , The following committee wai, theft elected :— -Messrs >G. W. Tiffen, G.' K. Pasley, W. P. Harding, C. Thomas, P. Andrews, J. Golding, and R. Thelwall. The Chairman' read a letter from the Board, suggesting that" the -householders might desire to give the school a differ,-' ent name, and after some lively voting the Chairman gave his. casting vote 'in favor of calling the school the Te Hapiara School, which was therefor*, carried. The Chairman Spoke of tht fair way the various school committees had treated them, in not raising objections to the boundaries. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Pasley," for the "energetic manner iiwhich he had worked to get a school ai Milltown. '. ■•■ ' . A resolution was passed, thanking tht Education Board for sanctioning "th.t building of > a school, and thanks weri also passed to the Iwo Gisborne representatives of the Board, Messrs Morgan and Darton, for furthering their Ciuse and also for being present that evening, and explaining and helping them. Messrs Morgan and Darton returned thanks, referring to tho great, prospects of tin school, winch they considered wouk grow, and would become one.
