The two races set down for to-night's session at the Garrison Hall should pro" vide gbbd entertainment, especially as they are to be raced each iv ona heat. The prises for the Bella Vista struggle are a gold medal and military hair brushes and the Civil Servants' trophies are a silver cigarette case and silver match box. The entries for the Civil - Service race are as follows :— J. Nicola*?? E. Bust, R. S. Wheeler, T. Smale, % Gallop, C, Maher, J. Robertson, H. Macintosh, W, Paltridge, W. Haughie ; and E v Little. The manager of tlie •'■ rink will start the races punctually at 8.30 » and Dr Colfihs has kindly "consented to act as judge. Last night tlio ' rink fcas open at Te Karaka and again met with A big reception the residents'?" having fairly caught the alerting fryer, and many town residents also making the trip out. Several of the intending lady competitors for Dr Collins trophy M-ere busy practising at to-day's sessions and $ood progress m*us made by Iho majority and an interesting competition :•■ should be M'itnessed. To-morrow tlio rink Mill be open all day again ,md the band will play at both afternoon and evening sessions.
