TURANGANUI BOWLING CLUB.
Tho annual general meeting of the Turai.gf.nui Bowling CHb wu« held lust evening m the Royal Hotel. There ' wns a very largo attendance of members. Mr W. »ruce presiding. A letter wns received from Mr B. Hird, regarding his resignation Jrom the club, and wishing the olub Hiteeesß.— Mr Hooper spoke, regretting that' Mr Hird s resignation had been accepted.— A number of members of the committee also spoke, giving an account of their action, \and regretting that Mr Hird had sent m his resignation, and a resolution was passed hoping that Mr Hird would again be seen on the green. The hon. secretary, Mr W. O. Sltcet, then presented the annual report and balance sheet, which was read. The committee reported that it had secured a lease of the sfcctioil adjoining, and formed a new green, shifted the pavilion and made sundry improvements. This had increased the indebtedness somewhat, but would no doubt be accepted by the members with satisfaction. In the formation of the new green thanks were due to Messrs Skeet and J. Jeune and other members for time and assistance given. During the year a number of matches had boon played. A record of the matches and the winners wns then given, the report concluding, "The thanks of tho Olub are due to members and ladies who provided afternoon tea, also all donors of trophies. The greens are being topdresscd, and your committee hope that the coming season will be successful." The Chairman, m moving the adoption of the report, congratulated the members on the Club's position, and spoke of the good feeling which existed between the Gisborne and Tu-rnng-ant.it Clubs, and he said he hoped the Culb would be successful m gaining the honors this year. : Mr C. J. Dennett also complimented the members on the Club's position, and seconded the motion, which after discussion was car-, lied unanimously. The election of officers resulted as follows:. President, Mr W. Bruce (re-elected) : vicepresident, Mr C. J. Bennett; hon. secretary, Mr W. O. Skcet (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr M.G. NaSinith (re-elected); management committee, Messrs T. McConnell, E. Lewis, J. P. Williams, Dan Barry, and J. Colley; auditor, Mr C. F. Lewis. New members proposed and elected werej as follows: W. Howard, D. Tustin, F. Gray,; T. A. W. Crawford, and Somervell. ; Mr J. J. Martin spoke of the good work done by the secretary (Mr W. O. Skeet) m; forwarding the success of the Club, and con-i sidered the members should recognise his able' services m a practical manner, and they: .should grant him on honorarium. — After a: number of other,. members had spoken of Mr; Skeet's good work, it was decided to granti Mr Skeet five guineas honorarium. — Mr Skeet returned thanks, and said his work had been a labor of love. The meeting then adjourned until next Friday evening.
