LATE NEW ZEALAND NEWS.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Arbitration Court's new award affecting the Wellington Cboks and Waiters' Union was received to-day. Practically the only difference from tho old award is a small increase of wages to the lower-paid hotel workers. Barmaids, barmen, and billiard markers are brought under tho scope of the award for the first time. The hours of work ore not altered. The local union is extremely disappointed with the terms of the award. The steamer Iris, which returned to Wellington to-day, successfully effected repairs to the break m the Eastern Extension Company's cable at a position about 200 miles from the coast. The cable was raised from a depth of 480 . fathoms", and it took seven days j to repair, the work proceeding tiny and night.
