PIRATES DISLODGED.
TWO JUNK LOADS DROWNED
(Press Assn. — By Telegraph — Copyright) (Received July 15, 9.20 a.m.) HO'NGKONG, July 14. A Portuguese cruiser and gunboat dislodged the Chinese pirates from Colowan Island, a Portuguese military port which they had captured, and sunk two junk loads of pirates who were attempting to eseape. All were drowned. Ihe Chinese Government has stationed a gunboat and 1200 soldiers in the vicinity of ■ -Colowaiij and these are awaiting' development*. The Governor of Macao has sent some guns and 200 infantry to Colowan. The incident arises out of rival Portuguese and Chinese claims to the Island, recent negotiaMons with the Pekiit Government having failed.
