SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

(Spenial to Herald.) GHRISTCHURCH. this day. R. A rust has received the proposed articles of the Arnst-Barry match, accompanied by the following letter from Guy McKalls, prompter of the match : "I en-cloi-e herewith articles signed by Ernest Harry for your acceptance, and trust they' will meet witli your approval. Should any modification or slight alteration be required by your advisers we will do our utmost to' meet them. Doubtless any adjustment that is to be made can be' arranged when we all meet at Livingstone, Rhodesia, m July . next. The British-South Africa Company considers that Thursday, August 18, would be the best day for the race, as conditions, climatic and otherwise, would then be most suitable. In order to make the necessary arrangements for your reception at Livingstone I should like to know, on what date y6u propose sailing from New Zealand, and the probable date of your arrival at Livingstone. Barry and his trainer propose leaving England on Saturday, July 9. You will, of course, understand that a very large sum of money is being expended for the necessary arrangements, and the British-^ >South African Company are naturally anxious to avoid anything likely to pre-. vent your racing Barry for the world's championship. On your arrival you may depend on all assistance being given to you. Nothing appears m the articles concern^ l ing v the expenses of either man, but, as I stated m my previous letter, v yours to. the j amount of ±5360 will be deposited at the Livingstone branch of the Bank of Africa. . I propose that all interested parties m this match meet at the Government House, Livingstone, on Sunday. July 31, to make- final arrangements. I enclose herewith the Thames laws of boat racing. " ' * Arnst states that the race is to be rowed upon the. professional championship rules, not the Thames rules of boat racing.
