Mr and Mrs C. A. de Lautoiur and M^rs Hughes returned yesterday, after a tour of Australia. Mr de Lautoin 1 states that there is a very hopeful feeling m - Australia, and where a. few years ago one would hardly be listened to on the subject of peopling' the great areas of land, tliiere Mas now a strong feeling m, the direction of obtaining suitable immigrants. Coming from- New Zealand the country seemed very dry, but e.idently it had its fattening qualities, and one had to hay© some experience of the land to be able to judge jt fairly*. The party had a very pleasant holiday, though, of course, they Avcre pleased- to be home again. •
