DUNEDIN, this day. • A neAv, hall m connection with the Otago A. and P. Society's premises m Crawford street is approaching completion. It adjoins the Brvdone hall. The double hall has been leased for five years for skating purposes by tlie Amusements Proprietary, Limited. Lord Plunket is to be asked to open the " picture-ream m, the Hocken Aving of the Museum on the 31st inst.
The new Ohain Hills tunnel Avill be 946 yards Ion?. Some twenty men have now broken into the north, end of this last, obstacle to a double line comimmiication between Dunedin and Mosgiel, but the job is likely to be, a lengthy one, since, OAving to the shifty .nature of the rock, the ttfnnel -will have to be lined throughout. The much longer Caversham tunnel, Avhich runs seveneighths of a mile into the earth, was an ■ easy job compared with thiß. It Avas merely a matter of excavating.
